Okay, so maybe it’s not “his” busa. And, maybe it IS his dad’s HAYABUSA motorcycle. But, for the purpose of this post and for the sheer fact that he was the one photographing next to it during this photo shoot, let’s just say it was his! .His father; my brother, has been the proud owner of this fierce bike for a few years now and my nephew Kenny-Boy was in need for some new pics, hence my title to this post. While I was visiting Honolulu last month for the holidays, my brother asked if I could take some pics of his youngest son. I thought it would be cool to do some shots with the motorcycle, since both of them are bike junkies. AND, I do mean junkies, (my brother also owns a drag-bike and another motorcycle in addition to this Busa). So, I thought the busa was only appropriate. My brother actually took me for a “spin” on his Hayabusa bike while I was back home and it is FFASSSSSSSSST. Crazy fast. Kinda cool though.

Now, Kenny Boy was my baby since he was the youngest of my nieces and nephews until recently, when my oldest brother had 2 little beautiful baby girls, kicking Kenny Boy out of the “baby” slot. LOL. Anyway, you can see a baby picture of Kenny boy by clicking here. Yeah, maybe it’s not a “baby” picture, but you get the point. You can see how little he WAS. Yes, was. Even though he is all grown up, bigger and taller than his father, he will always be my little Kenny Boy.

We started taking a few pics in front of the house, just to get some shots, but I thought it would be cool to go down to the beach and get some night shots with the bike. We decided to take a spin to the west side of the island to see if we could also get some city lights in the background. After driving around for a while, the city lights weren’t going to happen since the clouds were hovering over us. Instead, we found a beach park and decided to make a go of it. You can see the palm trees though! LOL. By the time we started shooting, it was midnight, so we didn’t spend a whole lot of time shooting. We just got a few shots and then headed home. Because it was so dark, I needed some extra assistance with lights to get the shots. So, here is a thank you to my assistants: my niece Gaylynn ( side lighting tech), my brother Hap ( primary lighting engineer) and my sister-in-law Darling (focusing light assistant). It was quite funny setting up these shots. I love my family! Here are the pics of my little BIG Kenny Boy. Love you!!! xoxo

Coming from a family with 3 generations of Marines, I have a profound appreciation for Veterans and want to wish everyone out there a Happy Veterans Day; a holiday dedicated to American Veterans of all wars. My oldest brother David served and recently retired from the United States Marine Corps. Serving in both Desert Storm and Occupation of Iraq, he along with millions of other served our country and assisted in the protection of the american people. He was a helicopter pilot and received a purple heart while serving in Iraq. His dedication and sacrifice he has given makes me extremely proud of him and I thank him and all the other millions of americans who served in our armed forces. While he is known as Lt. Colonel David Young Lamaku, to me he is my big brother. I love you Dave! OOh-rah……

Since his hair was rather short, we planned a 2nd shoot a few weeks later to allow for some “growth”. Both have striking features and incredible eyes. I mean they both are gorgeous!

Dancing has always been one of those things I loved. I think it has to do with the expression of your emotions and the creativity one brings when dancing. The steps, the moves and the feelings involved in dancing captivates me. It’s one of those things that draws me in and I often find myself watching dancing shows, movies, concerts, and performances, just because I appreciate the artistry of it. Modern dance is a style that comes from a dancer’s emotions and interpretations that actually deliberates the use of gravity. These dancers use their natural instincts and impulses and release their inner feelings into an outer expression. Haylee, originally from Texas, now resides here in Southern California and is a dancer, choreographer and instructor for modern dance. We shot some pictures of her dancing a few weeks back. Take a look….

Wanna know what tough is? Check out Stuntwoman – Dana Stein, daughter to one of Hollywood’s top stunt Gurus, Ronnie Stein. Obviously, being in the stunt biz, means you better be in shape and have a kick ass body, which she does. She has a body that we’d all kill for… abs and shoulders that are crazy cool. She’s been doing stunts for years and has some impressive credits on her resume. Our session was held at Body Image Personal Fitness Center in North Hollywood a few weeks back. We shot images of her training session; hitting the pads with some power punches and combinations, followed by some kick boxing. We were sweating by the time we were done. Okay, she was sweating a little more than I was . Take a look at these shots and see how fierce she is. She rocks!

Some of us associate the “start of summer” when Memorial Day, rolls around each year. And, while it is a reminder that the summer months are near, let us remember the true meaning of Memorial Day. It is in fact the day for all of us to remember those who have died in our nation’s service. I have 3 generations of United States Marines in my family and have a profound appreciation for all the men and women who serve our Country. As I mentioned before, my nephew Christopher recently graduated from the USMC boot camp at MCRD last month on April 3, 2009. While I posted some of the ceremony shots, I never posted any portraits from that special day. I thought it was appropriate to post them today and as a tribute to all those who have or are serving in any of our armed forces. Happy Memorial Day to all and may God Bless our troops!

Meet my nephew Kai, THE choreagrapher/dancer from Hawaii. Today is Kai’s birthday, so I thought it would be fitting to post a few images of him in celebration of his big day. These were some images we shot for his portfolio a little over a year ago. He made a stop in LA in transit to NY, where he signed a 1 year contract with Liberty Of The Seas, Royal Caribbean International. He was able to dance, see the world, be on the world’s biggest cruise ship and get paid! He found dancing on a boat a bit “different” at first, since you are at liberty of the ocean, but got used to it and completed some amazing dance routines and programs for all patrons aboard.

So, here he is, my baby all grown up. Happy Birthday Kai. I love you!!!!!!!

I want to wish all the Mothers out there a very Happy Mother’s Day. Whether is a mom, mama, mommy, mother, ma, mum, …………(the list can go on and on), these ladies deserve a day of recognition for everything they do for their children and their families. Mothers are the backbone, the root, the soul of our families. They make our worlds go around, our clocks tick and our bodies breathe. In fact, without them, we wouldn’t be here! So, for those of you who are lucky enough to spend this special day with your mother, give her a big hug and kiss, tell her how important she is, tell her what an important role she had in your life, tell her how special she is and just how much you love her. If you can’t physically be with her, pick up the phone and give her a call. Remember, there are many children and adults who have lost their mother’s and don’t have that opportunity, so let’s remember how lucky we are to have a mother to celebrate this day with.

My mother is back in Hawaii. While she is with my brother and other family members on this special day, I still miss her and wish I could be back there to give her a big hug. Mothers constantly worry and sacrifice so much for their children and my mother is no different. Sometimes, she worries a little too much Here is a picture of my mother that has your typical “worried mother” look.
I LOVE YOU MOM!
