Yup, May 1st is called “Lei Day” in Hawaii. Growing up in Honolulu, I remember EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE wearing a lei. Local florists sell out, while others string their own. I remember picking plumerias in the yard for my grandma to make leis… what memories. The smell of a nice pikake, ginger or maile lei is just to die for. Throw in a little hawaiian breeze and you are in heaven. I MISS HOME now
. Well, for all my friends and family back home in Hawaii, Happy Lei Day, hope everyone got lei’d! I don’t have any leis around here, so here are some pics of my roses in my yard. It’s the closest thing I have to a lei, at least it’s a fresh flower!
